Look like I've forgotten about my blog for a while. I've been on vacation most of July and then life just happens and there is no time for blogging. Lots to catch up on but even that is easier said then done. Sometimes I feel I should just continue in the present but then I think about all those memories in the past that I don't want to forget. In case I ever want to publish my blog I don't want so many missing pieces. For now I will post a few photos and try very hard to update more often. Let me just say that my trip to Croatia was good. It was still work to settle some of my husband's folks things but we tried to fit in some down time and fun at the beach and exploring more places we've not yet been to. Seeing some of our family is also a highlight at any time that is for sure..
Love these little guys but they are growing up much too quickly for my liking.
And this is what happens when one doesn't get his way. It is sob time right down on the floor and what can we do but let him have his way.
These three like to get together and cause some havoc. They are fun to watch most of the time. Sometimes there are squabbles and some whining but for the most part they all play well together however Maya is starting to grow up and have her own friends. She is being a good auntie and looks after the little ones well but she has more of her own interests now. She loves learning to sew so she can design and make her own clothes. She has certain ideas about clothes that is for sure. She also loves to cook and helps out any chance she gets. She loves trying out new recipes and especially loves soup. If every meal including breakfast was a soup that would be fine with her. Brandon has his little friends and loves to run around out in the park and go for a swim. At home watching cartoons on youtube is where you'll find him or watching funny kids movie. He also likes to help his parents make supper. The littlest one, Jaxon is starting to understand now that his actions causes a reaction in others. Sometimes he'll pretend to be real mad just to flash us a great big smile and watch everyone around him chuckle. I didn't know a two year old can fake being mad but it appears they can. Jaxon also loves to figure out how things work and if there is something with a cover on it he will work at it until he figures out how to get it off and back on. So, these are our three littles.
There is a restaurant nearby our house that we frequent every now and then and I always wanted to sit in this wonderful Elvis booth that is filled with Elvis memorabilia. It is a very good collection and I was happy to sit for a while with the King himself. I have a small Elvis collection but not quite as fine as this one. It was a lovely evening; One Night with You.
Maya is still so much into the fairy tales, princesses and tiaras. There is something about it that keeps her captivated. It's so important to her to surround herself with many beautiful and sparkly things. Also they all have to be visibly displayed because if she keeps it in a drawer and she can't see it, it's as good as not having it. Maybe it's a matter of have and have not and she certainly doesn't want to be on the side of have not. It's not that she hasn't had much in China. She did have nice clothes until the orphanage staff took it away, she had long hair but they cut it, she had a photo of herself as a baby but it disappeared. So now she holds onto everything that she can. So we went to see the new Beauty and the Beast movie which she loved. I enjoyed it too. It was a fun night at the movies.
My daughter caught the same kind of post with both of her little boys and it is the cutest thing. They're each wearing a hat and they are both looking up at it. So I put them together for her and the come is something we need to put in their scrapbook. The brothers are getting closer, The more JC is growing he can do more with his big brother BC. Love seeing them together and growing. Every kid should have a brother. Can't wait to see this relationship just get stronger and stronger.
and here are full pix of JC because they're just too cute not to share
If only there were thirty six hours in the day of daytime I may be able to get everything done. Lately my blog has gone by the wayside and I don't like it but I really don't have a choice, It's either that or a walk with the dogs, the blog or update my daughters website Forever Loved Angel Gowns, the blog or get my pictures off the phone, the blog or take Maya to a sewing lesson, the blog or ... well you get the idea. So everything else seems much more important than the blog but whatever did we do in the past when we didn't have a blog. I can hardly recall the time without facebook or instagram and such. So here are some catch up posts hopefully to come.
Love this colorful photo of Maya at the small shop where she takes sewing lessons. It's small but colorful and cozy and Maya loves learning to sew because well as we know she wants to be a fashion designer among other things.
Jax loves hats of any kind. He will wear most any hat but so long as he puts it on and he knows the way he likes it.
Brandon can't help but get another sit down with his favorite man, Ronald, next favorite after daddy of course.
Maya got a new winter coat that keeps her well protected and the fur around the hat is quite something, it might be keeping her warm but it is a little hard to see around that mane.
Our favorite Crepes or Palachinke as we call them in Croatian. They are best with some jam, cinnamon, chocolate fudge, or just plain sugar. Mom makes them with sugar and ground nuts and that is delicious too. I make the batter and my hubby flips them.
Maya still likes making pizza bagels. They may be easy and quick but they are a favorite of ours for a quick snack on the go.
And just had to add this one of Jax when he wants to show us that he is mad about something. It's the drop to the ground and cover his face trick. We're on to you Jax.
Maya is quite into her fashion. She is very conscientious about what she wears and how it goes together. Everything must match in some way and if it doesn't she is not a happy girl. She is a girly girl and loves her skirts and dresses however she is still learning common sense in fashion and what is appropriate for what occasion. She is getting better at that and more flexible and with Canadian weather you sure have to be flexible. Not every day is a dress day, not if you don't want to freeze your petunias off.
Anyway Maya wants to be a fashion designer among other things so she is having sewing lessons and is doing good with it. She is interested to learn it and I'm happy about it. Here she has created a beautiful dress for her doll with lots of bow embellishments. Also she has sewn a pretty shirt for a toddler girl and her first polka dot skirt. Well on her way.
This one is a 12th birthday for Maya. Sometimes we're not sure what age she is as at times she acts much younger and then much older . She tries to act all grown up and then her silly side wins over. Such is the pre-teen stage, you never know what you're gonna get. She is testing the waters of limitation as kids do. We try to calm her down as best we can and though we know this something she has to go through like all other children it is a little bit different with an adopted child, it is more. All the usual challenges are multiplied by a lot. Some days she is really trying to deal with it and other days she lets go and come what may. We celebrated the birthday on the weekend at a video games place. We had a party and cake and then it was on to the games which the kids enjoyed. I hung out with the littlest one who is still too little to play but he had a good time just scoping out the room. One day soon he will get to play. Maya wanted to get pierced ears very much so that is what she got, among other things like clothes of course.
It was a birthday for our girl Kristina who just turned 25 on Jan 25th. We started the celebration on the weekend, to this week and to go on Saturday as well. We are having fun together so that's ok. Hopefully we won't be eating more cake because we had some already. Wishing you a great birthday again and hopefully the year ahead will bring many surprises your way. Love you, Krissy.
I'm having the January Blues feeling sorry for myself when I know everyone else is in the same shoes. With all the illnesses, snow and freezing temperatures going around I am missing spring and summer already. It's only January and there's still plenty more of the above to come. Just getting over some bug and thinking positively that better days will come.
Just love these black and white pics of Brandoman. He is such an action character. You gotta follow him around and snap it quick or all you get is just a blurr. In the world of beautiful and extreme color it is hard to remember sometimes to see it again in black and white but I try as much as I can to return to simplicity that is black and white. These are from 2012.
Wanted to post this cute photo of Maya from somewhere in the beginning of our life together as her hair is still short. Soon there will be braces on those teeth. She actually wants brace because her friends have it but she has no idea that they are not the most comfortable things to have in your mouth. She will soon enough. We started the appointments for impressions today. I know with that awesome smile she'll still be cute either way.
I've totally neglected my blog. Just realized I'd never made even one entry for the month of December but the holidays were great. Spend Christmas and New Year with family and some friends. All the kids and grandkids got lots of presents. I love seeing their faces light up as they tear that wrapping paper off each box. I made sure I wrapped lots of little things as well as big things. So here is to the New Year hoping it will be extra ordinary.
Here are a few pix from Christmas, will post more later.
